Definition of Root
Definition
of Root
From the
Latin radix , the root is the organ belonging to
the plants that is introduced into the earth or in
a different body to absorb the necessary substances for the
vegetable to grow and develop. The root functions as a support and
grows in the opposite direction to the stem.
For
example: "I am worried: if that tree keeps growing, its roots will
break the floor and enter the house" , "If you want to
transplant a vegetable, you must take it from its root" , "The
dog plucked the root of the bush" .
Every root
of a plant can be said that it is made up of a series of elements or parts of
great importance because they allow the plant to perform the functions it must
carry out.
Thus, for
example, one of its fundamental components is known as caliptra, which is
defined as that conical zone that is located next to the apex and whose clear
objective is to carry out the protection of the meristematic cells when the
phase of growth and development of the cited root.
In the same
way, reference should be made to the rhizodermis, the epidermis of the root,
which contributes to what is the best and greatest absorption of water and
nutrients by the plant. And all this without forgetting the cortex that
can be defined as the region that what you should do is store reserve
substances for the plant.
The
endodermis or vascular cylinder are two other fundamental elements of the main
structure of any root that also has a secondary structure that is made up of
elements such as the periderm. This is what surrounds the so-called
secondary body and exerts as a substitute for the epidermis.
In the case
of Zoology, we also have to stress that the term root is also used. In
this case, it is used to define that part of the denture of vertebrates that is
identified because it is embedded in the alveoli.
By
extension, it is known as root at the beginning, beginning or reasonfor
something and the support or the bottom of some object: "Drug
trafficking is the root of the problem of insecurity that this country
suffers" , "This musical rhythm is part of our cultural
roots " , " The building collapsed because it was badly
structured from its roots " .
In mathematics ,
the root is the amount that must be multiplied by itself, as many times as
indicated, to obtain a certain result . The square root of X is
the number that, once multiplied by itself (that is, squared),
allows X to be obtained (the square root of 4 is equal
to 2 since 2 × 2 = 4 ).
The cube
root of X , on the other hand, is the number that, when
multiplied three times by itself, is X (the cube root of 8 is
equal to 2 since 2x2x2 = 8 ).
For grammar ,
the root is the minimum grouping of phonemes shared by a family of
words. Dico set of phonemes can not be reduced. An example of
grammatical root is fr in cold , chilly , chilly ,
etc.
